Directive Principles of State Policy are a set of principles enshrined in a constitution that guide the government in making laws and policies aimed at promoting the welfare of the people. These principles are not necessarily enforceable by courts but serve as fundamental guidelines for governance. In Nigeria and India, the Directive Principles of State Policy (DPSP) emphasise economic welfare and good governance and ensure that the government works towards improving the lives of the citizens.
