The pie chart shows the income of a civil servant in month. If his monthly income is N6,000. Find his monthly basic salary.

Concept:

Basic salary is represented by one sector of the pie chart.

Its value is found from the fraction of the total angle it occupies.

Explanation:

Sum of the other sector angles is

60^\circ + 60^\circ + 67^\circ + 50^\circ = 237^\circ

Total angle in a pie chart is

360^\circ

So the angle for basic salary is

360^\circ - 237^\circ = 123^\circ

Monthly income is N6,000, corresponding to

360^\circ

Thus basic salary

= \frac{123^\circ}{360^\circ} \times N6,000

= \frac{123}{360} \times 6000 = 2050
